April 2, 2019
Dear Fellow Classmates,
Our
40th Reunion is less than two months away, and your Reunions Committee
is hard at work at and is having lots of fun planning our great, big
“Family” Reunion. So far more than 300 classmates have registered and
we’re expecting over 400 classmates to gather under our tent at Dod Hall
in late May.
In
previous letters we’ve told you about the many activities, both class
and university-wide, that will be taking place during Reunions weekend,
so we won’t repeat them here, but we do want to highlight two ’79
specific Alumni events that will be open to the entire university
community. The first one is the showing of the documentary “Satan and
Adam,” featuring our classmate, blues player and English professor Adam
Gussow and fellow musician Sterling Magee. A Q&A period with a
faculty member will follow the film. The second one is a panel entitled
“Leaders in Higher Education Discuss How to Build a Diverse and
Inclusive Campus Community,” which will feature classmates Lily McNair
(President of Tuskegee University), Mark Schlissel (President of the
University of Michigan), and David Yellen (President of Marist College).
Classmate Peggy Russell (Professor of Law and Interim Associate Provost
for Diversity and Inclusion at Santa Clara University) will moderate
the panel.
We
also want to make special note that at our formal dinner on Friday
night at the beautiful Boathouse, President Eisgruber and our class will
announce the Class of 1979 Legacy project: The FLi(First Generation/Low
Income) Tigers and Friends Mentoring Program. This program will provide
FLi students with the opportunity to connect and form relationships
with the Princeton alumni family.
Be
a smart Tiger: if you haven’t yet registered, please do so today, as
regular registration closes on April 30th and rates will then increase.
Go to our registration page.
Even if you have already registered, please go to the registration page
and click on the Volunteer button: we need your help during Reunions
weekend, either as a member of the 40th Reunion Tiger Welcome Team, or
as a P-rade Wrangler. Also stay tuned for more information on
participating in the Class of ’79 led multi-class Community Service
project on Friday.
As always, we hope that you’ll be returning for our 40th because #79isFamily. It won’t be the same without you there!
With great ’79 pride and humble gratitude for the honor of serving as
Your 40th Reunion Committee Co-Chairs,
