We are inviting all of you who want to sing or play an instrument to be part of our Class of ‘79 Virtual Reunion Reggae Band.

Princeton University

Class of 1979

My apologies for sending yet another email, we’ve had some feedback that the instructions were unclear so we rewrote them:

Rally around ‘79 Family!

We are inviting all of you who want to sing or play an instrument to be part of our Class of ‘79 Virtual Reunion Reggae Band. Join with us in putting together a ‘79 family rendition of Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds, released on the Exodus album in 1977, and later re-released on Legends.

Whether you are an amateur, a professional or just looking to have fun, take a few minutes to add your unique sound to a timely message that is also a familiar blast from our past. It is really easy:

Print the score and words

Play the Little Birds Tune and decide if you are going to play an instrument, sing or just bop to the groove

Record yourself! Don’t worry, you get multiple takes. One method is to play the Little Birds Tune on a laptop or other devise – be sure to start your cell video at the beginning so it catches the clicks on the track. Keep your recording running after the click tracks. Plug your headset to the laptop or use ear buds so that the sound goes only to your ears. This way, what you record on the video is just your voice or instrument playing along with the sound in your headset. The opening few clicks are important for Mimi as she will use that sound to sync the video/audio to all the other videos being sent in.

If you are singing, you may want just the instrumental version in your ears, Little Birds Tune without Voice

Upload the recorded file to Mimi Chen

We’d like to get all videos by May 20 so we can share for Reunions---let us know if you have questions!

By the way, I brought my horn down from the attic and am practicing and recording. It’s really fun and actually simple to record.

You can also send Mimi a short video of yourself looking happy – we want lots of smiles on the video and your classmates want to see you. Don’t be shy!

Video yourself or grab a classmate or two—please join and be part of this Reunion event! Questions? Email Mimi at music.mimi@gmail.com.
