June 2020
Dear Class of 1979,
Last
weekend, Princeton celebrated Virtual Reunions and the Class of 1979
shined bright once again with Town Hall conversations, a Locomotive for
the Class of 2020, production of a Virtual Reggae Band music video and a
live dance party / concert. This email provides you links to the public
events so you can watch either again or for the first time.
• | Our
first town hall was a conversation with Steve Redd ’79, Director of
CDC's Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, moderated by
Henry Maguire ’79. This was a very interesting and off the record conversation about the CDC’s response to the Covid 19 pandemic and a look to the future. |
• | Our second town hall was a conversation with Josh Hammer '79, author of two best selling books, The Bad Ass Librarians of Timbuktu and The Falcon Thief.
The conversation was moderated by Kathryn Reimann '79, a big fan of
Josh’ works. Josh describes his genre as Adventure Non-Fiction and we
certainly agree with the “Adventure” description. The conversation is
online. Click here to register. |
• | Mimi Chen ’79 produced our Virtual Reggae Band music video
of the Class of 1979 rendition of Bob Marley’s Three Little Birds. 20
Classmates performed and several others danced (fortunately there were
several pros performing). |
• | Yes, there was a Virtual P-rade and the Voice of the P-rade is our own Gary King '79! Watch it and hope for a real P-Rade next year. |
• | The day ended with a dance party featuring Richard Morse '79 and his incredible band RAM Haiti, view their concert. |
Many
thanks to all the ‘79ers who participated! We certainly hope for Real
Reunions next year and to set a non-major record for attendance.
Phil Hueber, Class of 1979 President
