Hi Classmates!
The
idea for our first formal Class of 1979 Trip—Destination: Ecuador and
the Galapagos!—came out of discussion among your class officers about
how much we missed travel. A Galapagos trip that Phil and Kathryn had
planned was put on hold twice due to the pandemic. As others expressed
interest in joining, we thought, why not combine two things we
love--seeing other ‘79ers, and travel? Hopefully the third try will be
the charm, and in 2022, we will be on our way. Here are the details,
assuming all is safe and pandemic-free.
After
traveling to Ecuador from our respective locations, we meet up in
Guayaquil or Quito on the evening of Tuesday, May 10, 2022, to get ready
for our early morning flight to Baltra on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. In
Baltra, we will board The Coral, a 36-guest capacity ship for a
five-day/four-night exploration of the Galapagos, organized by Klein
Tours. (Klein came highly recommended, and has been terrific about
postponements and rescheduling without penalty based on our level of
concern about the pandemic.)
The really cool thing about Klein Tours is that the ship is small. If we have 30 79ers, including guests, the ship will be exclusively ours! All-inclusive (meals, etc.) pricing for the five day / four night cruise:
