Senior Fellow of the Center for the Study of Los Angeles, faculty
lecturer at Loyola Marymount University and University of California,
Berkley, and Foreign Affairs Latinoamérica editorial
board member, discusses his historical study of the evolution of Latino
empowerment and leadership from its beginnings in Los Angeles through
its future potential, in an interview conducted by Donna Hill Staton,

has taught at three University of California campuses, Stanford, and
USC; was twice a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for US-Mexico
Studies of UC San Francisco; served on the board of the US-Mexico
