Dear Classmates,
Last
week, you received a letter and dues card from me requesting
voluntarily paying dues for the 2022 academic year. Class dues have paid
for the PAW subscription, class events like the homecoming tailgate,
reunion luncheon, regional events, the Authors and Artists series and
other class related expenses.
Also
last week, you may have read the University has entered an agreement
with the Alumni Weekly to cover all operating expenses, eliminating the
class subscription while maintaining editorial independence.
So, we no longer have this expense.
The
class officers are meeting to discuss ways we can improve regional
events and conduct events that benefit the class. For this year, we are
keeping the dues structure as we have in the past. You’ll note there is
an “optional” line on the card that enables you to pay class dues as you
would like, even if substantially less than the $79 basic rate.
We
take stewardship of our Class of 1979 funds seriously and we assure
you, we will do so going forward. We have been fortunate that we have
always had the support to pay the PAW subscription. Evidently, this is
not the case for some classes.
We welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have for class events or for any initiatives that would benefit the class.
We Are Family,
Bruce Petersen, Treasurer
Phil Hueber, President
